BLOGS!?! What’s all the excitement about?

Website blog (web log) technology offers an ideal platform for conference promotion. Weblogs are the next generation of online discussion forums. Blogs offer a more robust feature set which can be used to easily leverage existing conference development activities to inform and engage prospective attendees.

A conference blog offers a central location for interested parties to post messages that become on-going, online conversations on many different topics. Individual discussion threads can be categorized by topic and date. Blog topics can parallel conference development activities such as venue selection, conference schedule, general session speakers as well as breakout session topics.

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is an important blog feature. It allows content from individual blog posts to be transmitted to other interested parties on the internet. The range of interested parties is huge. It includes your current membership, potential attendees, new syndicates, industry trade press and internet information portals. This makes for a tremendous vehicle to attract interested individuals in your organization and conference.
